What is PBIS?
PBIS is the school wide behavior system that we use at Watson Elementary School. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. The philosophy of this program is that by rewarding students for positive behavior through tickets, positive praise, and rewards, students will begin to build intrinsic motivation to behave in a positive way which will help create a positive learning environment in all areas of the school. Through the PBIS program, Watson has developed a common language for behavior expectations in each area of the school. Each child is familiar with the term S.O.A.R; S-Safety, O-Ownership, A-Attitude, and R-Respect. Students receive an incentive when they demonstrate one of the SOAR qualities. Teachers give students a class incentive daily/weekly. Each nine weeks we will have a school wide celebration/incentive to celebrate and give recognition to all students who have demonstrated positive behavior and have set good examples.
